New Delhi : April 28 : Deacon Pradyut was ordained priest for the Archdiocese of Delhi at St. Marks Church, Punjabi Bagh. Most Rev. Anil J T Couto was the main celebrant and Bishop Franco preached the Word of God. This ceremony was attended by over two thousand people from all over Delhi. Earlier in this month Archbishop ordained Deacons Ajit, Zakarius and Vijay Kullu in their home town for the Archdiocese of Delhi.

New Delhi : Archbishop Anil Couto led the Easter Vigil service at Sacred Heart Cathedral. This celebration was attended by over thousand people.Archbishop blessed the new fire and conducted the vigil service.

New Delhi : Thousands of faithful gather at Sacred Heart Cathedral to celebrate Good Friday. Archbishop Anil conducted Stations of the Cross at Sacred Heart Cathedral and gave Good Friday message in the evening.

New Delhi : Archbishop of Delhi, Auxiliary bishop along with priests and religious walked from Old Delhi to Sacred Heart cathedral on Palm Sunday. Stations of the Cross was enacted.

New Delhi : Thanksgiving Mass was celebrated at Sacred Heart Cathedral on 19th March 2013 as the newly elected Pope Francis inaugurated his Papacy at St. Peters, Vatican. Most Rev. Salvatore Pennachio, Nuncio to India celebrated the Holy Eucharist, joined by several bishops, priests, religious brothers and sisters.

Vatican : We have a new POPE. Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio from Argentina is New Pope. He has taken the name FRANCIS. In his first address he thanked cardinals and bishops and recited the Lords Prayer Ave Maria and Glory be. He also said the journey for the church that we are going to start may bear fruit. He asked the people gathered at St. peters Square to pray for him. He bowed before them and observed a few seconds of silence.

New Delhi: Golden Jubilee memorial Boys Hostel inaugurated in Rohtak. Most Rev. Anil J.T. Couto blessed and inaugurated the new boys hostel in Rohtak on 3rd March 2013. Shri Dangi, MLA was the guest of Honour.

Vatican : 28 February 2013 Pope Benedict XVI leaves after making his last public blessing as title changed to Pope Emeritus and the infallibility of his word expired. He said I am no longer the pope but I am still in the church. I am just a pilgrim who is starting the last part of his pilgrimage on this earth. He thanked them for their friendship.

New Delhi: 22 Feb. The chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Sheila Dixit hosted a programme to thank Most Rev. Vincent M. Concessao for the services he has rendered to the people of Delhi. She also welcomed the new Archbishop Most Rev. Anil J.T. Couto. In a programme organized by the Commission for Minorities, Government of Delhi, Honorable Chief Minister acknowledged the great work done by the Christians not only in Delhi but in every district of India. She thanked Archbishop Vincent for his spiritual guidance and support. In reply Archbishop Vincent said Chief Minister of Delhi was always generous in granting all the wishes of Christian Community in Delhi. Archbishop Anil promised to continue the good work and sought the cooperation from the government in building a peaceful and just society. Programme was attended by leaders of various communities. Mr. AC Michael, member of the Minority Commission was instrumental in organizing this event. Programme concluded with sumptuous lunch at the Delhi Secretariat.

New Delhi, Jan 20: The installation of Most Rev. Anil J.T. Couto as the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Delhi was held at the open grounds of St. Columba’s School on Sunday, 20th January 2013. Most Rev. Anil Couto was born to a devout Catholic couple – Avito Couto and Ernestina Couto in Porvorim, Bardez, Goa on 22nd September 1954. He was ordained priest for the Archdiocese of Delhi on February 8, 1981. He was appointed auxiliary bishop of Delhi on March 11, 2001. Later, in 2007 Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI appointed him as bishop of Jalandhar. He was appointed Archbishop of Delhi on 30th November 2012. On 20th January 2013, more than 6,000 faithful filled St. Columba’s School grounds to see Most Rev. Anil JT Couto assume his role as Roman Catholic archbishop of Archdiocese of Delhi. There was a prayerful mood inside Sacred Heart Cathedral and festive celebrations all over the campus. The installation ceremony began at 2 pm. The newly appointed Archbishop was welcomed by the school band at the Archbishop’s House. He was joined by Archbishop emeritus Vincent M. Concessao and Rt. Rev. Franco Mulakkal, auxiliary bishop of Delhi. The Rector of Sacred Heart Cathedral and College of Consultors welcomed him at the Cathedral entrance. After the entrance procession, Archbishop emeritus Vincent M. Concessao welcomed all. The Apostolic Nuncio to India and Nepal His Excellency Salvotore Penacchio began the installation ceremony. He greeted the new archbishop and wished him well and thanked the former archbishop for his service as the archbishop of Delhi. After the Papal Bull was read, Most Rev. Vincent M. Concessao handed over the Crossier to the newly elected Archbishop of Delhi as a symbol of handing over the office to the new Archbishop. All the bishops present greeted him and the incardinated clergy of the archdiocese pledged their obedience. During his homily newly elected archbishop Anil Couto thanked God for choosing him, an unworthy servant. He said, “I will try my best to get into the shoes of Archbishop Vincent”. He asked the congregation to pray for him. Over 20 bishops concelebrated in the installation of the new Archbishop of Delhi. Around 300 priests from the dioceses of Delhi, Faridabad, Jalandhar and other neighbouring dioceses participated in the mass. After the Eucharist, a felicitation programme was held for the new archbishop and Archbishop Emeritus of Delhi Vincent M. Concessao. Archdiocesan youth performed a dance. Prominent people of the Archdiocese thanked His Grace Vincnet M. Concessao for his selfless service and welcome His Grace Anil JT Couto. Among the dignitaries there were beurocrats, country diplomats, government representatives from the Delhi government and Punjab Government. Leaders of other religions and denominations spoke on this occasion and prayed for the new Archbishop. The Delhi Archdiocese encompasses an estimated 80,000 Latin Catholics in Delhi and Haryana. Archdiocese has over 83 parishes and Missions and 112 incardinated priests.

Pope Benedict XVI on Friday appointed a new archbishop to Delhi Archdiocese. His Excellency Anil J T Couto is the new Archbishop of Delhi, who is taking the place of retiring Archbishop Vincent M. Concessao.Installation of the new Archbishop will take place on 20 Janury 2013.
